Title: A four letter word

Author: my_midevilmind

Pairing: Akame

Summary:  What could be a word that describes this feeling of wanting to always be by the side of that special someone? A four letter word that describes this extreme happiness whenever I see him or sadness and jealousy and anger that’s all rolled into one when he’s out talking some else?  A possible phrase that can explain why I always blush at the slights comments, simple touches or the loneliness that makes my heart ache when he’s not around anymore or maybe this wanting to never see him sad, but to keep smiling that stupid smile…. It couldn’t possibly be hate, no, definitely not it.  I know that for sure, but perhaps this could be adoration…a
fondness of…a
love for…

[Prologue][We Meet] [Chapter one| |You don’t know me] [Chapter 2| |Why don’t you want to go home?] [Chapter 3 | | you mean like a date?]

[Chapter 4 | |You know what?]

“Um…” a voice called. No answer.

“Excuse me…” it tried again. Still nothing.

This time the owner of the voice tapped Kazuya on the shoulder, catching the others attention and making him turn.

“What do you—” Kazuya began but stopped mid way as soon as he saw who it was.

“So I was right it is you Kamenashi.” He said relieved.  “Where’ve you been? Everyone’s been worried sick.”

‘…Kaoru?’ Kazuya froze wide eyed. ‘Why are you here?’

“Thank god I’ve found you,” Kaoru continued, “You know how hard it was looking for you? I mean no one’s seen you! I went everywhere even Nakamaru said you weren’t at his place and…” He trailed off see noticing that Kazuya wasn’t paying attention. “Kame,” Kaoru started up again, “You know we’ve all been worried…even your mother—”

“Lair!” Kazuya shouted cutting him off. He lowered his voice, “That woman? Worried about me? Get real. She wouldn’t concern herself with me even if I died.” ‘Not even if I died…’ “That’s how she is. That lady cares for nothing more than herself and her status.”

“Kame…You can’t seriously believe that can you?”

“Why not? It’s the truth isn’t it?” Kazuya now stared, his voice sharp, his eyes glazed over with hatred.

“…Kamenashi…” Kaoru whispered. He knew that Kazuya didn’t like his mother, but he didn’t ever think it was that serious. He didn’t like his own parents either at times, but he’d never doubt their love for him like this. Never. “She—” He tried again, but was cut off. This time it wasn’t Kazuya, but another he’d ever seen before.

“Kazu-chan?” Jin asked. He’d been watching from a far but not wishing to interrupt Kazuya from his conversation with the other boy he stayed put and watched. From a far it looked like a normal conversation but something didn’t feel right. He couldn’t see Kazuya’s face but the way he was standing. He was stiff as a stick and that wasn’t the normal Kazu-chan. The normal Kazu-chan would stand tall and proud not taut and tense. He knew something was wrong the moment he heard Kazuya yell. Kazuya never yelled. “What’s wrong?” he asked giving Kazuya a slight jump, but he didn’t turn to face Jin.

Kazuya cast his glare down ward, clenched fist and all, his facial features softening as he did so. But they looked hurt now, his eyes, about to cry but couldn’t no matter what hurt.

“Kazu-chan?” Jin asked once more. He put his hand on Kazuya’s shoulder but Kazuya slapped it away. “Kazu—” Before Jin could even finish Kame was already out of reach. He darted out the door not once looking. Jin watched until he was out of sight and turned his gaze to the unknown one.

He curled himself up, arms around him knees with his head buried between. Silent sniffs filled the air; it was obvious he was crying. ‘But why?’ Jin thought. The day had been going great so far. Just why was he crying?

Jin walked over to Kazuya and quietly sat on the bench next to him. He didn’t say anything. What could he say? Calling out Kazuya’s name wouldn’t have made a difference in his opinion and he seemed like he needed sometime to think, Kazuya. But the again, he could’ve simply needed someone to talk to and so it would’ve alright for Jin to say his name?

The truth is that Jin had never been faced with a problem like this before. Sure he’d seen it on TV. In those Drama’s where the girl cries and the guy cheers her up with some words of encouragement or holds her or something. But he’d never actually witnessed it in real life…and it never hurt as much seeing someone cry before.  It might work in dramas but this was real life. And Kazuya was a guy.

‘What should I do? What would be the right thing to do? What would’ve made—’

“Ne Jin? …Can I tell you something?” Kazuya breathed out Pulling Jin out of his thoughts.

“…” ‘…Kazu-chan…’ “Sure anything…” ‘Anything…’

“Y—You know that classmate I told you about the other day?” His voice came out a hoarse whisper.

“un”

“Well that was him…”

‘What? So then that’s why Kazu-chan’s—’

“You heard right?”

“eh?”

“What we said. You heard right?”

“…yeah…” Jin whispered.

heh…,” a dry laugh excepted Kazu-chan’s lips. He closed his eyes and sighed, “Well, he’s not really the reason I don’t want to go back home.” Kazu-chan paused before continuing, “I runway because of my mother.”

Jin stared silent, Kazuya continued. “You see, ever since I was little she’s never been there for me. You know how mothers are supposed to be all caring and loving and all that? How they’re supposed to go to all you baseball games and all those stupid after school stuff that you don’t even want to go to, and support you in whatever you want even if it’s the dumbest idea in the world? How they’re supposed to love you no matter what and all that junk? …Well, she was never that. That woman” another sigh, “I don’t think that woman knows the first rule about motherhood. She’s the complete opposite. She doesn’t care about anything other then herself. And if I wasn’t such a terrible son I doubt she’d bother to even remember my name.”

“Kazu-chan…” Jin murmured.

“Who knows maybe she’s already forgotten by now. With all those business meetings who could blame her.”

“Kaz—”

“Maybe she doesn’t even know that I’m gone right now—”

“KAZU-CHAN”

“NANDAIO?!” Kazuya’s head shot towards Jin. Teas rolled down his red cheeks in clusters and globs. His eyes blood shot, no doubt from crying so much. Jin pulled Kazuya closer to himself and into a tight embrace. Kazu-chan’s shoulders trembled, his whole body was shaking and all Jin could do was tighten his hold on the other.

He knelt beside his bed watching Kazuya sleep. With one hand petting Kazu-chan’s hair and the other propping him up right Jin sighed. When Kazuya fell asleep at the park, on the bench Jin carried him all the way back to his apartment. Just a few hours ago Kazuya was sobbing his eyes out, but now he was peaceful. Serene. Calm. Except for the occasional quiver and whimper, Kazuya was calm. In spite of being stressed, weary and in dire need of sleep, Jin smiled. Kazu-chan was calm.

With another sigh Jin got up from the floor getting ready to go to sleep himself. He rolled out his futon and extra blankets. That night Jin didn’t get much sleep.

Monday…Tuesday…Wednesday passed. Thursday, Friday and Saturday followed soon after. It was just like before, except Kazu-chan didn’t talk much, he didn’t talk about all the things he saw on TV or ask about Jin’s day…or anything about his family and that Kaoru person. Before they knew it al whole week passed by.

“Okeairina—”

“Jin…………I’m ready to go home now…”
