[Bad boy turn good Kim Jaejoong starts off fresh with a new school, new friends, and a new passion. He and his father join his brothers in a life of peace promising to never go back to life of crime, but when trouble smacks him in the face is he just going to ignore it? Can he ignore it?]

Keita’s stomach growled and growled loud, it was remarkable he even heard the knock on the door. What was taking Siwon so long?! He was going to die!

“Come in.” Heechul called not moving a muscle or bothering to lift his look away from his current page. He thought it was one of the secretaries. They were always moving in and out if the office.

“President,” Siwon called entering the room, “Target captured” He walked further in the office. Behind him followed the others, Jaejoong among them. His hands were held back by one of the students the other students huddled closely by him to prevent him from escaping. “I hate you Siwon…” Jae muttered under his breath.

“Nii-chan!” Kieta cried.

“Good job Siwon, you can—” A “meow” cut Heechul off soon afterwards a little black and white kitten ran in. Not soon after that voices—well shouts could be heard. A male student ran into the room bumping into the boys in black, then another one, and another one and another one. Heechul watched to see if one more was coming but that was is. ‘These 4…’ He thought. They directed their attention to the kitten, the first one that ran in especially completely ignoring the people already in the room.

“JAEHO!” Jaejoong cried forcing his hands free from the boy in black that was holding him. Jaeho, hearing his name called, stopped and turned.

“Jaejoong?” Yunho called. He and the other 3 stopped as well. ‘Jaejoong?’ The three looked on as the unknown person picked ‘Jaeho’ up into his arms.

“Jaeho~, I’ve missed you so much!” Jae stretched arms up and out, making Jaeho look directly at him, “Don’t you ever scare me like that again.” He brought Jaeho down to hug him again. They stayed like that for a good minute with everyone just watching.

“Jaejoong!” Heechul started, “What’s going on here?”

words

[Ten minutes later…]

Everyone—with the exception of the boys in black—sat on one of the three couches surrounding the coffee table. Jaejoong sat in between Heechul and Keita on one side, Yunho, and Changmin sat on the other side of the table, while Yoochun, Junsu, and Siwon sat on the on the end. The boys in black stood behind their leader.

Heechul, having taken a sip of tea to calm him down asked again, this time rephrasing his question. “What happened this time?”

“Yeah, why are you so late?” Keita demanded downing his cup of tea then attaching a curry bun. Still chewing he mumbled something incomprehensible but without explanation he grabbed another form the pile in the center of the table.

“I lost Jaeho…” Jae muttered. He knew he was in trouble and not only because of Jaeho either. Being late for class, causing an uproar in the student council room and ‘most importantly causing Keita to suffer’ or at least that’s’ what he thought his little brother was rambling about. “He was in danger…” He hugged Jaeho tightly, separating the kitty from his milk.

“Where’d you find this one?”

“He was stuck up in a tree this morning.” Jaejoong began, “You should’ve seen him! He looked so sad and I couldn’t just leave him there. A pretender might’ve gotten him!”

“That doesn’t mean you can take him”

“He didn’t have a collar or anything…” Jaejoong tightened his hold on Jaeho, “He’s got nowhere to go…and besides,” Jaejoong looked into Heechul’s eyes, “I love him”.

‘Love?’ Yunho thought. He, and all the others, had been watching as the two talked. Since they were sitting so close they couldn’t help but to. Even Changmin, Junsu and Yoochun, who were stuffing their faces with bread, had to have heard (no matter how much noise they were making)

He took another sip of tea and then sighed. He hated it when Jaejoong got this way. He was extremely unreasonable to begin with. Taking a liking to something only expanded that gap between the two senses. This made Heechul think back to when Jaejoong was smaller, just entering elementary school. He had this oversized lion plushy—almost as big as 5-year-old Jae was—that he would take everywhere, even to the bathroom (no matter how much their mother protested). He loved the thing, he really did, but Jae was careless. One a school trip to the zoo, Jaejoong set the toy down to go observe the other animals and when he got back, hero (the lion’s name) was nowhere in sight. They, being Heechul and Jaejoong, looked high and low. Searched and researched all the places Jaejoong went, but by the end of the day hero didn’t turn up. Jaejoong cried for weeks, refusing to eat or drink anything until his Hero was found. Their parents even bought a Hero-look-alike but that didn’t fool Jaejoong, he only cried harder. Sure when time passed Jae had gotten over the loss of his childhood companion, but still. Heechul still remembered, he remembered the pain Jaejoong went through. Form that day on, he vowed to always protect his brothers, it was his duty as the eldest after all.

Heechul sighed again putting his cup down. “Alright” Upon hearing that word Jaejoong released Jaeho to capture his hyung in a deep hug muttering thank you over and over. “You’re going to have to have to take extra good care of it though. He’s actually a living thing.” The last part Heechul whispered cupping one side of his mouth with one hand. ‘Let’s just hope Jaeho doesn’t end up the same way Hero did.’

“Why’d you name him Jaeho?” Keita asked deciding to join the conversation, his stomach satisfied.

“It’s a really awesome name right? Right?” Jaejoong turned to Keita on the other side.

“…It’s…umm creative…” Keita picked up Jaeho and started petting the black kitten.

“What’d you mean by that? Jaejoong crossed his arms.

“I meant what I said! Now why’d you give him that name?”

Jaejoong gave up. His brother was just too stubborn. He pointed to Yunho “Yunho, rescued him.” Almost immediately after Jae finished his sentence a series of coughs could be heard. Changmin, Yoochun and Junsu covered their mouths with their hands to keep from getting food all over the place. They swallowed, hard, and just stared at Jaejoong. Then at Yunho. Kieta and Heechul stared at Yunho too and Jae was sure a couple of the Boys in Black were doing it.

‘what?’ he thought. “Is it that hard to believe?” Yunho stared.

“Yes!” Changmin answered right away.

“Last time I checked you didn’t like animals…” Junsu rambled.

“Yeah!” Yoochun pointed an accusatory finger at Yunho, “You wouldn’t even hold that rabbit when we went to the zoo.”

“Or pet the lamb.”

“Or, hold the snake or—”

“OKAY, I think we get the idea” Yunho cut in, an annoyed smile present on his face. Was it that hard to believe it? So what if he preferred to stay away from creatures not of the human variety.

“Just saying” Junsu mumbled. But it was true. In the past the three had noticed that whenever there was an animal, big or small, their leader would either back away as far as possibly or run for it. They didn’t know why he was like that. In fact, when they thought about it, they really didn’t want to know anyway. Who knows maybe Yunho just didn’t like animals…witch made it all the more surprising to hear that he, Jung Yunho, rescued a Kitten (when he couldn’t even feed a caged bird).

Lunch ended. Jaejoong and Yunho returned to their classroom. Yoochun, Junsu, and Changmin did the same. Jaeho was kept in the student council office with Heechul and Siwon who opted to skip afternoon classes that day. “Too much work to get done” was his big brother’s excuse.

“…” Jaejoong went silent walking up to his desk. It was cover with crap, again. Didn’t he make it clear that morning that this was his seat? He did the same thing as this morning and sat down.

——

“What are you doing?” Yunho asked crouching down next to Jae.

“What does it look like? I’m going to catch this guy.”

“What guy?”

“The one who keeps messing with me desk!” Jae whispered. He was fed up! This morning there were thumbnails inside his desk, and a couple times before that writing and paint. Once he found his books soaking wet. Three days (and a half) of constant disrespect was really getting under Jaejoong’s skin. It was PE time so the classroom was empty. Everyone was suppose to outside but Jaejoong knew the culprit wouldn’t miss this chance.

“I’ll help then” Yunho smiled. These stupid pranks were getting out of hand. Everyone was getting tired of it. No on knew who exactly was doing it, or they did but whoever the culprit or culprits were was treating them.

One of the two doors opened grabbing the boys’ attention. Silently they listened to the foot steps draw further and further away from them and then stop. The sound of a zipper, probably a bag being opened was heard soon after. Before the person could take out whatever was in there Jaejoong and Yunho jumped out from behind the teachers’ desk.

Surprised the person makes a run for it, but Jaejoong’s not far behind. With both Jae and the other out of the room Yunho moved to see what’s in the bag. Spray Paint.

The desk offender ran in and out of classrooms (some empty, most not) trying to loose his pursuers but that didn’t work. He darted straight into the library thinking he could loose them there in the maze of bookshelves. He looked over his shoulder. He’d done it, he’d lost them! Then CRASH! When he opened his eyes he was sore all over knee deep in a pile of books with Yunho and Jaejoong looking down on him.

Jaejoong waited patiently by the school’s front gates. He’d promised that he’d walk home with his brothers that morning. Their way of making sure that Jae didn’t get into trouble.

‘Does it usually take this long?’ Already half an hour had passed since school ended but there he was in the same spot. Sigh. Jaejoong let his body slid against the brick wall of the front gate landing his butt on the freshly cut grass. He was used to waiting (with a brother like Heechul he had to be), but this time there was nothing entertaining to do. Usually he’d grab a magazine or watch a little TV. Something that would distract him. Unfortunately he was currently outside the school building with no signs of anything fun. Nothing at all! He didn’t want to go back inside either so he just stayed there, in his current seat.

“Hey” Jaejoong spun around looking for the owner of the voice. He stood on the other side of the gate. Jaejoong guessed that he must’ve been a student in the school because he was wearing the same uniform. “Are you Kim Jaejoong?” the stranger asked. Jae nodded. The unfamiliar person half grinned, and half smirked. Jae didn’t feel so right. “Then would you mind coming with me?”

——

Yunho stretched his arms exiting the through the main entrance. Finally he was released! The Audio Visual (AV) meetings always lasted long. He should’ve left earlier like the others. He hated the club, but if it wasn’t for Junsu he’d never have joined. Ever. But that didn’t matter, it was over! He could go home.

‘Jaejoong?’ Yunho thought to him self. Yup it was Kim Jaejoong alright. ‘What’s he doing here…and who’s he talking to?’ Yunho walked through the main gate. Across the street he saw Jaejoong, with another guy. Their backs were turned so he couldn’t any faces but he from the uniform knew the guy was from their school. Out of curiosity Yunho decided to follow.

——

“What do you want?” Jae demanded. He didn’t like the smug grin on the stranger’s face, or the looks on all the others. They’d dragged him into an empty parking lot, form the looks of things, it hadn’t been in habited in quite a while.

“Nothing, we just want a little pay back for one of our friends.” His grin grew wider.

“We?” On cue three other guys came into view. It was as if they’d appeared out id thin air, or maybe they were always there. It didn’t matter. Jaejoong didn’t care.

“We.”

“Whatever. I don’t even know what you’re talking about.” Jae went to leave but the two guys blocked his path. The four all together gathered around, circling him.

“Remember this afternoon, the one you crushed under that pile of books?”

‘What?’ “I didn’t do anything. He injured himself.”

“Well we’re about to injure you.” A punch came hurdling towards Jae from the front but was quickly dodged.

“I don’t want to fight you.” ‘As much as I’d like to I can’t.’ A kick to the side was easily caught but let go to narrowly evade a plow to the head. Jae backed out of the circle, “look, I really don’t want to fight you.” This was getting annoying and this is a pretty stupid joke. What happened to their friend was an accident. It wouldn’t even have happened if he wasn’t trying to spray paint with Jaejoong’s desk. The reason for them to do this is a joke! If he could fight he’d be out of there already. These guys were persistent too; if he walked away they’d just follow. What to do? What to do? Then POW! The perfect excuse. Jaejoong stumbled back clutching his gut. He’d just been punched in the gut by a powerful upper cut but he couldn’t be happier.

——

Jaejoong dusted himself off. Despite being careful his uniform still got dirty. Heechul and his mother (if she was there) were going to kill him. Not even a full week until he first moved in and already he had gotten into a fight. Good thing he had an excuse.

“Whoa…”

“Who’s there?!” Jaejoong shouted. He’d been seen, hopefully by someone he didn’t know. Chances are it was someone who knew him. Heechul’s got people watching all over the city. “Look I know you’re out there, just come out!”
